Taking inspiration from fellow ROCKER Mariel of The Learning Basket, I have also started using a "book basket," where I place all the books we'll be needing for our lessons and activities.
Our book basket ;-) |
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays:
Bible, Religion, Reading and Language, Art or Music Appreciation, Handwriting
Tuesdays and Thursdays:
Bible, Math, Filipino, Science, Sibika at Kultura (haven't started this yet though.. Tim is struggling with Filipino as it is!)
Because of Typhoon Pedring, we had to move the kids' bookshelves into the living room of our teeny-tiny apartment. I guess it was a blessing in disguise as we ended up with a homeschool "corner" of sorts!
I am hoping these small steps will go a long way towards helping our homeschooling. I am still thinking of following the schedule suggested in the Mater Amabilis website though. As you may already know, we're using Catholic Heritage Curricula (though we have yet to photocopy the other worksheets), but have incorporated other books and resources as well.
Pray for us ok? Especially this disorganized, distracted Teacher Mama! hehe!
I'm not the best at recording daily activities, mainly because I'm chasing children! I love the websites that have loads of pictures of daily homeschool life, but I honestly don't see how it can be done.
ReplyDeleteI'm a NEW homeschooling mother as well ... my youngest daughter is doing kindergarten at home with me.
I'm stopping by from Catholic Mothers Online -- welcome to the community there!
Hi Dianna! ;-) Thanks for stopping by. :-) I am SO blessed to be part of Catholic Mothers Online! I am also not good at recording daily activities, hence the attempt to be "organized" and "consistent." haha! Daily homeschool life for us right now seems to be made up more of playtime than studytime actually, and I am trying not to stress about it because I've realized it's making me turn into such a grumpy mama! hehe :-) What Kinder lessons do YOU do with your little one? On second thought, I'll just hop over to your blog to take a look! ;-) Thanks for visiting! God bless us!
ReplyDeleteHi Tina! I hope you're getting a bit organized with your basket!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, we don't have a learning basket every single week, and I don't prepare it at the beginning of each week. We add things to it as we go along. :) It does help us easily locate our books and things for the week.
And playtime IS the way to go. You're doing great!
Hi Mariel! Thanks for dropping by and your comments ;-) To be honest I am kind of tempted to try FIAR next year hehe ;-) I am praying about it ;-) hehe. CHC is good too of course but I really love the idea of the kids learning stuff mainly through reading books ;-) Will ask you more questions about it privately dear ;-) God bless us!
